If you need a good laugh, this is the movie for you. Girls Trip is nostalgic for every woman with a crew. Whether it be from childhood, high school or college. Ryan, Sasha, Dina, and Lisa–also known as the Flossy Posse–prove that real friends never go out of style. This film will make you want to schedule a girls night and listen to 90s Hip Hop and R&B ASAP!
The majority of Girls Trip takes place at the Essence Festival in New Orleans where the ladies get together for business and pleasure. As the crew reunites, being together brings out the dormant, wild side of them. I think many women will be able to relate to the Flossy Posse’s escapades.
The vulgar comedy also touches on some real-life issues and ends on a women’s empowerment note. Here are my main takeaways from Girls Trip.
To thine own self be true
When money is the motivator, it sometimes hinders our rational thinking. We make bads decisions and can jeopardize our self-worth. Money doesn’t buy happiness and you should never be bought for a paycheck. When you are true to yourself, the world will be true to you.
Real friends are friends for life
The ladies in Girls Trip are examples of real friends. They have a long history of ups and downs but at the end of the day, will go to war for each other. Ryan, Sasha, Dina, and Lisa also brought out the best in each other which is what real friends should. Real friends are hard to come by these days so when you have them KEEP THEM.
So I loved the film and am secretly hoping for a sequel. What do you think?
