When I was in college, everyone told me I had to move to a bigger city to be successful in the field of communications. So I prepared to move to DC–a city that’s not too big or too small with a healthy amount of hustle and bustle. I searched out jobs and researched the best communications companies, and was fully prepared to make the move.
A few months after graduation, my first chance came to move to DC. I had a job and was moving within a month. Unfortunately for me, my boss took a demotion to move with her fiancé and took my job. I was discouraged but stayed in good spirits.
The next opportunity was with the government as a public affairs specialist and I was so excited. The job was mine. Unfortunately again for me, the job lost funding.
At this time I thought to myself, maybe I am in Cleveland for a reason. So I focused on my position and purpose here and God showed me that I could thrive.
I thank God for cancelling those positions because if it hadn’t happened I would’ve never met my husband, my wonderful church family or got the amazing job I have now!
Good scriptures to highlight:
Romans 8:28: And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
