Lord, why me!

As I was reading a great book about the gifts of God, I came across a paragraph that stated, believers in Christ are a threat to the kingdom of darkness, so the enemy will seek us out. It also stated to only engage the enemy on God’s terms, led by and filled with the Holy Spirit. Zechariah 4:6, …Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the LORD Almighty.

This got me to thinking about the things that happen in our lives that cause us to say “Why me!”  When we give our lives to Christ and serve God, the enemy becomes angry.  John 10:10 tells us, The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy… He does not want to see us joyful and free, so he campaigns against us trying to make us fall and turn away.

This is why we have to know who we are in Christ. The enemy will attack our finances, our families, our health, our jobs and our ministries, but we must stand strong in the Lord.  As we put on our Ephesians 6 armour, we must remember who will never leave us nor forsake us (derived from 1 Kings 8:57).  Yes, times get rough and we feel weak and defenseless, but Philippians 4:13, says, I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. So, our faith allows us to overcome any tribulation that comes our way.

Good scriptures to highlight:
Ephesians 6:10-17: Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
