Be thankful for what you have

Oprah Winfrey once said, “Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough.” This quote makes me reflect on many areas in my life and my attitude toward them. It also makes me painfully aware of the many things I take for granted.

Life is such a privilege, and many of us can’t enjoy it simply because we focus on what we don’t have and our desire to have more. With this mindset, it’s difficult to be thankful for anything, and even easier to be jealous of another’s possessions. Our thoughts must maintain an attitude of gratitude.

Colossians 3:15 says, and let the shalom which comes from the Messiah be your heart’s decision-maker, for this is why you were called to be part of a single Body. And be thankful. The Father in Heaven knows our heart’s desires and will reward us in the right season if we delight in him.
