How to purify air without an air purifier

House plants purify air

I never understood why both of my grandmothers kept a house full of plants. I mean sunrooms and window seals full of beautiful overgrown potted plants. I always thought it gave them something to care for after their kids were grown but who knows. Whatever the reason, houseplants have multiple benefits including purifying indoor air.

Here’s are a few ways you can purify the air in your home without an air purifier.

Plants
Truthfully, plants are the bomb.com. They increase oxygen, suck up harmful gases, and capture dust. If you have any breathing problems, especially at night, placing a succulent on your nightstand can help. Not only do plants help purify the air they also reduce stress which is why you should have plants at home and at work! It’s so easy to go and get plants for offices, I honestly can’t understand why anybody wouldn’t do it.

A few air purifying plants: Spider Pants, Peace Lily, and Gerbera Daisy.

Diffusers
Diffusers do more than just diffuse essential oils to improve your mood, they can also reduce airborne bacteria. This is extremely important because we spend most of our time indoors breathing in toxic air–a breeding ground for bacterial infections. You might want to take a look at some Top Essential Oil Diffusers if you’d like to have essential oils purifying the air in your home too.

Some Essential Oils to use: Tea Tree, Eucalyptus, Cinnamon, Rosemary, Lemongrass, and Clove.

Cleaning products
Sure, we all watched our mothers clean the house from top to bottom with bleach but as adults, we now realize the harm it causes. It’s not the only culprit, most traditional cleaning products can cause some sort of irritation. We’ve all coughed and teared up cleaning the bathroom at least once in our lives?

Anyways, opt for nontoxic cleaning products, like the ones featured here.

Please Note that if you or your child has asthma, you should get an air purifier. It’s the best and quickest way to remove harmful particles in the air. Let everything else I mentioned accompany an air purifier.
