Never did I imagine Montreal would move into my top five places to visit. However, after experiencing a bit of culture shock I realized just how amazing the city is! Originally visiting to attend An Intimate Conversation with Michelle Obama and to celebrate Chad’s birthday, I quickly realized that Montreal had so much to offer! Here are some of my highlights.
Michelle Obama at Bell Centre
Where do I start…Michelle Obama was phenomenal! She was so honest and candid about her upbringing, career, marriage, and motherhood. It was like talking to a homegirl…she’s so down to earth. While answering audience questions, she joked and humored us with impressions of Barack which were hilarious! I adore her 💕
Stogies Cigar Lounge
After seeing Michelle, we stopped by Stogies Cigar Lounge of high rollers! I, personally, do not smoke cigars but my husband does and since it was his birthday I treated him to a cigar. All I can say is it was extremely entertaining…
Dyad Cycles Montreal Essentials E-Scooter Tour
My last scooter experience was a complete fail. I mean I chickened out. This time, however, I mustered up the courage to ride and it was so much fun. I had a sesame seed bagel at St-Viateur, stopped by Jean-Talon Farmer’s Market, rode up (and down) Mont Royal, saw the 1976 Olympic Stadium, and so much more! After a three-hour tour through the Plateau, Mile-end, Little Italy and Mile-Ex, I would consider myself an E-Scooter pro 😉
Let’s go back to Mont Royal. The view of the city was everything and the sky was so calming.
Chad loves entertainment so it was no surprise that he stopped to watch a street magician and, in a matter of minutes, was part of the show!
Of course, I had to seek out some vegan eats and stopped by LOV Vegan and Vegetarian Restaurant which was eco-friendly and pretty swanky. I had the Big LOV Burger, onion rings, and Nutella ravioli. Everything was delish 😋
Chad and I also explored Old Montreal with all of its historic buildings to include Notre-Dame Basilica. Thousands of people visit this church each year to pay homage and revel in its Gothic architecture. It’s huge and there was even a funeral taking place in a back room while we were there.
There is art everywhere in Montreal–you couldn’t escape it if you tried. It can be seen while simply walking down the street. I loved this portrait of Anthony Bourdain.
Until next time, Montreal!
