Everything’s better when you buy, eat, and enjoy what’s in season. Today, I’m sharing the in-season flowers, fruits, and vegetables you should be buying this month, plus my December essential oil pick.
There are always tons of flower options available. Even some that aren’t in season are still available. I think it best to enjoy flowers while they are in their natural essence of growth and maturity, so here are my December flower picks.
Daphne – Small pink, red, and sometimes white flowers
Pansies – Colorful flowers with dark centers
Poinsettias – Provide a floral display that’s perfect for the season
Snowdrop – Drooping white bell-shaped flowers
Winter Aconites – Yellow buttercup flowers
Winter Heather – Pink and purple needle-like flowers
Winter Honeysuckle – Fragrant, creamy flowers
Winter Jasmine – Bright yellow flowers with bright green stems
This month’s fruit picks include some traditional favorites as well as some exotic treats. Grapefruits, oranges, pears, and tangerines are great in salads and desserts. If you aren’t into eating pomegranate seeds, you can use them as a garnish for beverages. Additionally, papaya is juicy and sweet and is perfect in salsa or bruschetta.
We typically consume heartier dishes during this time of year, so these in-season vegetables are ideal for casseroles and soups. Broccoli, cauliflower, mushrooms, and sweet potatoes provide essential nutrients and are good dietary fiber sources. With the regular greens you are already consuming *wink*, make sure you incorporate these veggies.
My December 2020 Essential Oil
Cedarwood Essential Oil comes in two forms, depending on your needs and preference.
Cedarwood Atlas Essential Oil has a strong, woodsy, sweet, and spicy scent. It’s good for calming the mind and sleep problems, thanks to its therapeutic properties.
With a medium scent, Cedarwood Virginian Essential Oil has a woodsy, outdoorsy scent. It’s a great addition to seasonal potpourri and can complement men’s colognes.
